We’d love for you to join us in Budapest, June 22-25, 2023, for the Junior Electric Rock Guitar Player World Championship, which will be held at The Harley Davidson 120th Anniversary Festival. We're waiting for your application if you are a 12–18-year-old guitar player who wants to be the best in the World!

You can meet with and learn from the best Hungarian guitarists of all time, who will be the judges of the competition.The winners of the competition will not only win the title of 2023 Junior Rock Guitar World Champion, but we will distribute a total of €12,000 in prize money among the winners.

Rules

• Jury of the competition:  famous Hungarian musicians. President of the Jury: Károly Frenreisz
• Competitors: Young people (aged 12-18) born between 1 January 2005 and 31 December 2011, with valid entry submitted by the application deadline. By submitting an entry, participants accept the Terms and Conditions of the competition.
• Type of instrument: electric guitar (Each competitor must provide their own instrument) 
• Each participant must present a maximum of 5-minute and a minimum of 3-minute performance to the jury. The competitors will have 3 minutes for set-up before their performance. The stage will be equipped and set up with proper lighting and high-quality sound system by the organiser.
• The competitor must perform a solo on stage, no backup band is allowed. However, a musical base is allowed, which the competitor must hand over to the organisers before the performance.

Registration

• Entry: Only by online. Entry period: from 1 January 2023 to 20 June 2023
• Entry fee: 50 € per person
• Entry fee must be paid by bank transfer upon invoice after the entries have been accepted.
• Entry fee includes: participation at the competition and a T-shirt. 
• Organiser sets the maximum number of entrants per age group at 100.
• Organiser provides accommodation for 5 days (21-26 June 2023) for two people in a 2-bed room for 350 EUR on request. 
• In case of no-show or any infringement, the entry fee will not be refunded.

Application

The competitor must send a photo and an introduction video, in which a song of his/her choice is performed.

To apply the application form must be filled in. A parental consent form must also be attached. 

Please note that only electric guitar is accepted when entering the competition.

Competition system: The competition will include qualifications and finals. The competitors will be divided by gender and 2 age groups. The top 10 in each category will qualify for the finals, 10 girls and 10 boys in each category.

Age groups:

• Girls I born between 1 January 2008 and 31 December 2011 
• Boys I born between 1 January 2008 and 31 December 2011
• Girls II born between 1 January 2005 and 31 December 2007 
• Boys II born between 1 January 2005 and 31 December 2007

Schedule

• Age group I (boys and girls) – qualification starts at 1pm on 22 June 2023
• Age group II (boys and girls) – qualification starts at 1pm on 23 June 2023 
• Age group I (boys and girls) – final starts at 5pm on 24 June 2023
• Age group II (boys and girls) – final starts at 5pm on 25 June 2023

Prizes: the winners of the competition will be awarded the World Junior Rock Guitar Champion 2023 title.

The 1st to 3rd place winners will receive cash prize* and a trophy in Age Group II (2005-2007). Total prize money: €12,000.

1st place boy: 3.000 € and girl: 3.000 €

2nd place boy: 2.000 € and girl: 2.000 €

3rd place boy: 1.000 € and: 1.000 €

The 1st to 3rd place winners in Age Group I (2008-2011) will receive trophies, and the 1st - 6th place winners will receive a special award and gift package.

*Winners will not be liable to pay tax on their prizes.

Free accreditation is provided for one accompanying parent of each competitor.

By entering, the competitor consents to being photographed, filmed and/or recorded during the competition and consents to the image or recording being used by the organiser without restriction of time and place.

By entering, the competitor consents to his name, image or recording being used in the promotion of the competition by the Organiser. 

The Organiser shall have the right to make changes.
